hello stranger
It's hard to write an introduction for something which is still simply a conglomeration of concept pieces. I will try my best though...
"Auvunaut" may remind you of the words "nautical" or "astronaut" - it means time traveller, loosely. I don't know where or when I started wanting to mess with the concept of time travel but I've ended up "designing" an interesting technology wherein this could happen. The pages in the navbar will go into the concepts at length, though there is not much right now. There's more, a little bit everywhere, and what's in the pages now are simply what I had published to my tumblr.
Also why the Chobit's wallpaper there? Because I like her and so do you. :3
These are some story ideas I had brainstormed for what sort of story I could use to explore this world. They're not very good, I feel like. 1. Someone dies - someone was killed as he was exploring the Walking Path and he, as a ghost with his sliver of time, must figure out who killed him as well as how to get back to the Current.
2. The tech being sold to Idk fantasy Russia and spies and assassins using time travel to their advantage. Kind of plays into concept 5 but with a larger focus on the people using the tech in a controversial way.
3. The story of someone using the tech to re-live the past again and again and again, unable to escape that moment, until his perception of reality slowly melts away as unknown brain damage short-circuits his neural networks. This is the most depressing prompt, surrounding someone hurting himself again and again and again.
4. Psychedelic dream realm where people live in a perpetual set amount of time - from this date to whatever was most Current at the time the development explosion happened.
5. A scientist attempting to break into the future and the unrest surrounding inner dealings and politics around the technology and how countries are using it.
6. A student is trying to go FAR into the past, to the point where "something" breaks. This one is the most "anime" prompt.
7. Someone stays for far, far too long in the Past and ended up stuck, doomed to haunt this one location forever. Residents of that house, in the Past, think the house is haunted by a literal ghost which is... Almost right. Story follows residents of house as they and the Ghost try to communicate.
Sorry that it may not be the most clear explanation - most of my written explanation actually comes from long-winded conversations with my friends so there was a lot of text speak that I edited out and polished.
Time travel works like this: you can only go in the past and not the future because the way time appears to us, when the technology is being used, like a path being continually laid down.
The technology works three fold, and the technical aspects are being changed and adeed on to but this what's going on currently.
Two of these are each to explain - the Current is what's currently happening - the action. If you try to catch yourself breathing, you'll find that you have already breathed.
The Walking Path is the visual representation of time travel, with the help of the technology. I will get into how the tech works more in depth in a second but right now, you can imagine it as a seperate realm. In this realm, you can see the bricks being laid down on the path, the action of the Current, and if you walk along the path, you will travelling to the Past.
The Past is simply that - the road that has been laid down before you.
At this point, there are some things I'd like to note here but I'm not sure if I should. The idea use to be that an isolated town or village had been using this technology recreationally and would use it to do things like rewatch lectures or put chicken in the oven if they needed to have put it in earlier. Lots of fun little things like that. Now however... I don't know if I enjoy that idea.
I will have that content logged for myself where no one can see it but we'll see if I like it enough to make that a staple of the world-building. For now, there isn't much more but to explain the technology itself.
The technology itself works a bit strangely. Your body does not necesserily physical travel through time - instead, the designer has figure out how to take the atoms that comprise of your soul through a metaphysical and metaphorical representation of time. This is called the Ghost. The real body is technically a "Current" body, though no one really refers to it that way.
Since the technology can't fully seperate the soul from the body, the body moves the same way the Ghost moves; this means that whenever the technology is in use, the person needs to be kept in a room where he will not hurt himself.
As the technology is in use, it is a process of constantly transferring atoms to the past. Those atoms replaced by a type of anti-matter in the Current world. If someone spends too much time in the Past or the Walking Paths, that person will die on account of the bodily affects of this or simply the amount of time his real body has gone without food or water or even overexertion. Of course, this would mean those people have spent more than a week in the Past and is not common.
This brings us two questions. How does someone utilize the tech and how does this "Ghost" self interact with the world?
I feel as though it also worth noting that whenever you come back to your Current self, the atoms that were slowly being lost are absorbed back into your body. This is not an issue, as long as you are not in the Past for long and are not utilizing A-Tec constantly.
